1897 Bersey Electric Taxi. This was the first type of self-propelled cab licensed for hire in London and came from the fleet of the London Electrical Cab Company. It had a range of thirty miles between battery charges, hardly sufficient for a day's work. The batteries were positioned in a tray under the chassis. This is believed to be the only survivor of seventy similar cabs built.
