Jimmy Murphy in Duesenberg racing car, c1920. Murphy was a successful racing driver of the early 1920s. He was Indycar champion in 1922 and 1924, won the Indianapolis 500 in 1922 and the French Grand Prix of 1921. He drove Duesenberg cars at Indianapolis in 1920-1922. Murphy was killed in a dirt-track racing accident at Syracuse, New York in 1924.
