Attilio Marinoni, chief mechanic of Scuderia Ferrari, with an Alfa Romeo, 1934. Scuderia Ferrari raced Alfa Romeo cars in the 1930s. It was not until 1947 that the first 'true' Ferrari single seater racing car appeared. Marinoni came to Ferrari from Alfa Romeo in 1932 when Alfa Romeo announced their withdrawal from motor racing. As well as being a mechanic, he also competed as a racing driver.
