Ferdinand Porsche, (1930s?). Ferdinand Porsche, second from right, was involved in the design of the highly successful Mercedes and Auto Union racing cars of the late 1920s and the 1930s. In addition, he was the man responsible for the design of the world's most successful mass-produced road car, the Volkswagen 'Beetle'.
