Professor Bergmann injecting a tuberculosis patient, 1891. Bergmann assisted Robert Koch (1843-1910) in investigations into the treatment of tuberculosis (TB). In 1890 Koch introduced Tuberculin which he thought was a cure for TB. Its curative powers were a disappointment and its value as a diagnostic tool was overlooked. From La Science Illustree.
