Testing weights and measures during the reign of Henry VII, England, 1497-1509. At bottom right measures which do not come up to standard are being burned. Setting standards for length, volume and weight was an important in order to maintain commercial confidence in trade. Penalties for selling short measure were severe. Engraving after Vetusta Monumenta, a manuscript of 1497.
