Saturn, 1659. Diagram of Saturn and its orbit and the altering appearance of its rings from different angles. Dutch physicist, mathematician and astronomer Christiaan Huygens discovered that Saturn's rings were made of rocks from observations he made in 1656. From Huygens' Systema Saturnium.
