Francisco Pizarro (c1478-1541) Spanish conquistador. Pizarro and his soldiers on the island of Gallo. Pizarro conquered the empire of the Incas in 1532, claiming their lands for the King of Spain. In 1535 he founded the city of Lima, Peru. Pizarro was assassinated in 1541. Mosaic from Pizarro's tomb in Lima Cathedral.
