Britannia stands along England's coastline and welcomes the sun, with a disgarded umbrella at her side. The sun smiles back at her. Two of the sun's rays are hands, and the sun is reaching out to join hands with Britannia. After a very wet spring and summer, the sun returns. In time to save the essential corn crop, as well as the more luxurious strawberries. From Punch, or the London Charivari, July 14, 1860.
