Mary Leigh (waving) and Edith New, the first Suffragette window-breakers, released from Holloway Prison, London, 22 August 1908. Leigh (1885-1979) and New (1877-1951) were the first suffragettes to use vandalism as a tactic in the fight to gain votes for women. From "The Suffragette Movement.
