Margaret of York and the Resurrected Christ, c1468. Miniature of the Risen Christ appearing to the kneeling Duchess Margaret of York, sister of Edward IV, as she kneels in prayer within her bedchamber. From the presentation copy for the Duchess of "Dialogue de la duchesse de Bourgogne à Jésus Christ" ("Le dyalogue de la ducesse de bourgogne a Ihesu Crist") by Nicolas Finet. This book was one of two devotional works written specifically for Margaret soon after her marriage to Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, by her almoner, or distributor of alms, Nicolas Finet. While the other book depicts her performing charitable deeds, this book focuses on her private devotions. The two books were intended to shape a Christian princess.
