Prince Siddhattha cuts off his hair at the Anoma river and receives offerings for his life as a monk, c1800-1820. (Asparas on white horses outside the walls of a Buddhist shrine. The horse in the top left leaps over the river. A servant holds a parasol over the aspara's head. Siddhattha sits underneath the tree in the centre cutting his hair with a blade. Before him figures kneel in prayer and hold offerings. Two figures in the bottom left corner have turned away from the shrine and have covered their eyes with their hands).
