The Battle of Bull Run, Virginia, 1861 (c1880). Fought at Manassas, Virginia, on 21st July 1861, the First Battle of Bull Run was the first major land battle of the American Civil War. The utcome of the fighting was a Confederate victory, with the Union army retreating back to Washington DC.
