Statue of Charles S Rolls, Dover seafront, Kent. As well as co-founding the Rolls-Royce motor firm, Charles Stewart Rolls was a pioneer aviator. This statue in Marine Parade pays tribute to his feat of being the first man to cross the English Channel and return in a single flight, which he accomplished on 2nd June 1910. He was killed in a flying accident at Bournemouth later that year. The statue was unveiled in 1912.
